Emalin have just launched a new segment on their website, ’Stories’.The debut installment presents a video call between Kembra Pfahler and long term friend Vaginal Davis.
We’ve been big fans of Kembra’s work since her 2019 opening at Emalin for her show, ‘REBEL WITHOUT A COCK’.
I particularly enjoyed the nostalgic aspect of the conversation, as the pair reflect on how they met and discuss their past and current artistic explorations.
Kembra discusses how her practice has changed during the pandemic and shines a light on her current Polaroids project. The pieces showcase the snapshot aesthetic and provide an intimate glimpse into the art and life of Kembra.
She discusses some of her influences- from actress Alla Nazimova to Renaissance artist Hans Baldung.
